A diagnosis of early memory loss can be frightening and overwhelming, but by understanding the disease, the symptoms and what possible changes might be expected, a person with early memory loss can live well and be empowered by planning ahead. We will address common questions and important steps after a diagnosis, including treatments, strategies for coping with changes, community resources and considerations for legal, financial and safety concerns.

At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), early Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, symptoms and the diagnostic process.\
  2. Identify healthy strategies for living well with diagnosed memory loss.
  3. Recognize potential safety issues and plan for the future.
  4. Describe how to expand a support network.
