Join us for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day as we discuss curbing financial elder abuse. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the critical issue of financial elder abuse and equips students with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify, prevent, and address instances of financial exploitation targeting older adults. Participants will gain an understanding of the socio-economic factors and vulnerabilities that contribute to elder financial abuse and will be empowered to play a proactive role in curbing financial elder abuse through advocacy, education, and intervention efforts within their communities and professional spheres.
At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and define Business Email Compromise Frauds, Impersonation Scams, and Romance Scams.
- Report suspected fraud and scams to the correct authorities and channels.
- Understand the methods that scammers use to trick potential victims.
- Provide support and resources to individuals that are affected by scams.
