For many caregivers, dealing with stress and anxiety is a daily battle. Navigating the difficulties that can result from caring for someone has the potential for many to alienate their own mental and emotional well-being.

Despite the challenges, there are multiple tools and ways to manage stress and to take care of your mental and emotional health. Remember, caring for yourself is equally as important as caring for your loved one. If you find yourself struggling to prioritize your own health think of the airplane oxygen mask analogy. On an airplane, passengers are instructed to place an oxygen mask on themselves first before helping the person next to them. Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s essential.
