Alzheimer’s Orange County is excited to share that Amy Young is our second 18th Annual Visionary Women Caregiver Awards Family Caregiver Honoree. Individuals in this category provide unpaid care for a family member living with some form of dementia or memory loss.

Even before becoming a caregiver, Amy Young demonstrated an admirable work ethic and a strong devotion to her family. While raising two boys, she wrote weekly articles for a Canadian publication and was a very active member of the Hollywood Foreign Press. Years later, in what seemed like a blink of an eye, she became a caregiver to her husband of over 50 years, Bill. Amy took on the responsibility without hesitation, giving up much of her daily life and routine to support Bill. Fifteen years later, she continues to manage his daily routines, look after his physical health, and take him on outings, like trips to Santa Barbara, to keep him stimulated. Amy’s patience, love, and 24/7 commitment to Bill, including hand-feeding him meals and handling all his personal care, showcase her extraordinary compassion and resilience as a caregiver.
