Mike & Connie Farkas
Mike was born in New York City, New York. He is a dedicated Marine Corps veteran and worked at United Airlines for 40 years. Working for an airline allowed Mike to travel the world, visiting 47 countries over the years! In addition to traveling, Mike kept busy with a number of hobbies: beekeeping, stained glass, golf, bridge, volunteering at the Getty Museum, 5K walks, gardening, and photography. Mike is a caring, helpful, joyful, and generous man who still loves to sing, dance, cook, laugh, and paint. During one Memories in the Making art session, Mike said “This place is so exciting! I love coming here!”
I can’t tell you what you’ve done for us. For me, it’s made a huge difference. In the world we’re navigating, it’s given us beacons in the dark. It’s been an eight-year journey for us. My friend, Grace, turned me on to AlzOC. I went to the family caregiver workshops. We attended the Our Gang support group and Connect 2 Culture activities, the music concerts, Memories in the Making, picnics in the park, and our favorite event, ‘The OK Chorale.’ I can’t sing at all but I enjoy it and Mike loves it. Having these activities have given us focus and something to look forward to. Mike is happy going into activities and happy afterward.
